Rajasthani natives and tourists watch the Desert Festival that culminated in the picturesque Sam dunes near Jaisalmer, India February 6,2004. Thousands of locals, Indians and several hundred foreigners showed up for the event along with the Indian Border Security Force officers who were a part of the Festival. Though the soldiers main task is to patrol the border with Pakistan on camels, they are always part of the numerous parades and exhibitions across India. The border between India and Pakistan is porous and complicated and the camels are an important part of the Indian military.
