Near Zvornik, Republika
Srpska, Oct. 2nd 2003. One of the bodies in the largest mass grave yet found
at a location called Crni Vrh (which means "black peak" in bosnian).
Approximately 500 bodies of Bosnian Muslims were removed from this site
between May and October 2003.
The killing of 8,000 Bosnian men in
Srebrenica in 1995 remains an issue of great importance in the peace process
in the former Yugoslav republics. It is also a key incident in the evolution
of the concept of International Justice. While exhumations of mass graves of
Srebrenica victims continue, a memorial was established for those victims
that have and will be identified. The site was opened by Bill Clinton in
Potocari near Srebrenica on Sept. 20th 2003.
