Miss Ashley Merritt, 18, from La Plata, Md., is crowned the 67th Miss Queen Nicotina at the annual St. Charles County Fair in La Plata, Maryland. The title is indicative of the important role tobacco had in the region's development. The judging is based on strong character, intelligence, talent and grace.
