After more than two weeks of fighting, the allied
forces entered Basra on April 7th. The British tanks rolled into the city
center early in the morning, encountering pockets of armed resistance. While
the fight against these last faddayin was carried on, wide spread looting
began all over the city. The morgue in Basrah's central hospital. The bodies
of pro Saddam militia fighters, the faddayin, are brought to the hospital's
morgue before burial.
