A caribou cow and her days-old calf run in tandem
along the tundra of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Thousands of the
Porcupine caribou herd use the coastal plain most years as a birthing place
and nursery during late spring and early summer. The Bush administration
wants to drill for oil here.
