'Come fall in love with New
Orleans all over again', reads the tourism print ad. But almost one year
removed from the storm that permanently altered the landscape of Louisiana
and the Gulf Coast, the tourists have not returned as change comes in slow
and sometimes indistinguishable steps. For local residents, the road to
recovery is not paved. For Sale - A home for sale at the corner of Polk
and Louisville Streets in the Lakeview neighborhood boasts its price right on
the siding. Buyers are slowly entering the neighborhood and either tearing
down the houses or gutting the interiors.
