"Waiting for the Wave"
Veteran 'Pororoca' surfer Sandro Buguelo takes a nap
before confronting the mighty tidal bore wave, in the Dangerous Channel
between Caviana and Mexiana Islands some fifteen miles from the mouth of the
Amazon river at the Atlantic ocean, on March 30, 2006. The tide of the Amazon
had dropped dramatically, which always precedes the arrival of the
inland-bound wave. A group used the muddy banks of the Isle of Pacas as a
staging point before setting out to surf the 'Pororoca' wave through the
Amazon jungle.
