A juvenile albatross sits amid piles of plastic on
Midway Atoll where discarded plastic items wash ashore and young albatross
chicks like this one are inadvertantly fed plasitic bits which contributes to
the death of as many as 200,000 chicks each year before they are able to make
their first flight.
