"Crime On The Rise"
As murders, carjackings and
kidnappings are on the rise in Basra, Iraq, a
prison cell is packed with 30 prisoners for crimes ranging from theft to
first degree murder at Basra Police Station in Basra, Iraq, on Sunday, March
21, 2004. Basra residents say the police and the British are ineffective
against religious militias and against regular street crimes.
