Fu Yang, an orphan from the Hunan Province of China,
was brought to America in October 2004 on a
medical visa to receive craniofacial reconstructive surgery. While Fu
expected his physical deformities to be repaired, he never dreamed of the
life he would be given. In December 2004 Louis DeLuca met and fell in love
with Fu while photographing him after his first major medical operation.
Louis, his wife Dinah and step-son Jade now foster care for Fu and have
provided him an environment of love and security that he never had before. Fu
Yang is photographed for hospital documentation prior to one of his major
surgeries.
