"The New Europe - The Roma"
Cemetary in Kosice, Slovakia.
On the first of May, 2004,
the face of Europe changed considerably. Ten new
countries were added to the European Union and many brought with them a set
of social issues that suddenly became a continental problem. In tiny villages
across Slovakia, Romas live in filthy slums and absolute poverty. Isolated and
excluded from the rest of society, they are now EU citizens with out social
security, access to education, health care and they that lack even the right
to vote.
