The Darfar province of the Sudan has been the
scene of murderous violence and the displacement
of over 1 million people as government and local tribal factions combat each
other. photographer Bruno Stevens has traveled several time to the area to
record this violence, displacement, and death. Bahai, Eastern Tchad, June 11,
2004 Zubeida, center, and her friends are among approximately 6000 Sudanese
refugees who have been living for over 4 months in makeshift shelters in Wadi
Howa, marking the border between Tchad and Sudan, without hardly any outside
help.
