In a surprising discovery,
divers found these five-inch Arctic cod exploiting an unexpected habitat.
Melted out hollows within the ice seem to provide the fish a refuge from
predators-one of many ways life has adapted to a frozen world. Dr. Gradinger
broke out in tears when I showed him the first video footage and pictures
ever taken of cod living in the Arctic ice.
