"Sign Of Peace"
Esteban Lucitande Yauguaje, from the Secoya
tribe, holding dried palm fronds that he carried as a sign of peace, gets
ready to make his way to protest outside the courthouse where oil companies
are on trial for polluting the area. He is from a tribe that was heavily hit
by the oil pollution. The Indians set up camp in a community center near Lago
Agrio, Ecuador, where they spent the night. Picture taken in Ecuador, October
