"Sikh Woman"
5/17/2003 -- A woman waits to
make an offering during a service at the San Jose 'gurdwara' or Sikh temple
in San Jose, California. The Bay Area is home to some 50,000 Sikhs who
emigrated from India, many for jobs in Silicon Valley. They are presently
building the largest 'gurdwara' in the U.S. There are about 250 'gurdwaras'
in the U.S. presently.
