puffs on a cigarette during an afternoon at The Portal, a bar in Somerset,
Colo., which has catered to the many coal miners working in the town for
close to 50 years. Brezonick started working in the mines in 1939, back when
the work was done by pick and shovel, and worked there for more than four
decades.
