"Dead Iraqi" An Iraqi lies dead on the floor with four shots in his head as two US soldiers from 1-22 Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division, who had been conducting a foot patrol point a flashlight at his body, in a street 500m from Saddam's "Birthday Palace", in Tikrit, 180 kms (110 miles) north of Baghdad, early 13 December 2003. The soldiers said the man they killed had opened fire on them from a car driven by another Iraqi, who was immediately arrested. The captured Iraqi said the shots were fired in the air in celebration after the two attended a wedding.
