The defeated soldiers of Haji Padsha Khan Zadran, were captured as they ran out of ammunition after two days of fighting and put in prison by soldiers of the stronghold of a rival warlord, Saifullah in Gardez. Haji Padsha Khan Zadran is appointed governor of Paktia, who launched an attack on Gardez against Commander Saifullah who is supported by the new interim government of Hamid Karzai.
