Announced
Pictures of the Year International is privileged to welcome 12 of the most recognized leaders in photo-journalism and visual editing as judges for the 65th annual competition. A list of judges and the schedule are now available. The judging is held during three consecutive weeks, reviewing more than 45,000 images. Each scheduled week is made up of four judges for a specific division of the contest. POYi makes a conscientious effort to invite a cross-section of individuals to serve as judges — working photojournalists, pictures editors, publication managers, visual educators, and photo agency representatives.
The judging will begin the week of Feb. 17 with the General and Newspaper Divisions. They start on Sunday morning with the Sports categories, and then move to News and Pictures Story categories later in the week. The week will culminate with the Newspaper Photographers of the Year announcement on Friday, Feb. 22. The following week, another panel of four judges begins the Magazine Divisions, followed by the Editing and Multimedia Divisions during the third week of March 2.

Judging Schedule
More than 45,000 images will be judged during three consecutive weeks on the campus of the University of Missouri. Twelve judges will make up three panels and convene in Tucker Forum at the School of Journalism.
February 17 - 22: General and Newspaper Divisions
February 24-29: Magazine and Multimedia Story Divisions
March 2-7: Editing and Multimedia Divisions
POYi Program in Washington, D.C.
on April 17 & 18
Washington, D.C. will be the host city for the 65th annual POYi Education and Awards Program this next spring. We are encouraged by the enthusiasm we have received from our early sponsors such as the Newseum and National Geographic. The program will be a two-day event on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18. The Newseum will be the site on the opening day, and National Geographic will provide the Friday setting in Grosvenor Auditorium. Our goal is to offer a meaningful educational and professional development program that will be open to all winners, students, and professionals who wish to attend this world-class event.

Pictures of the Year International recently announced its newly created Board of Advisors. The members of this team are photographers, editors, managers, and educators — all legendary leaders in journalism and visual journalism.
For 65 years, POYi has valued the advice from our devoted friends. Their loyal support has made POYi stronger, more relevant to our profession, and as a result, one of the most prestigious journalism programs in the world.
