Striking shipyard worker Michael Guthrie, of Hampton, a maintenance mechanic at the yard for 20 years, looks over provisions in the tentative agreement outside the Hampton University Convocation Center Friday afternoon. As his co-workers held their copies of the agreement, they discussed what they felt were shortcomings in the proposal. "Overall it's a pretty good contract, except that it's for 58 months," Guthrie tells his fellow strikers. He said the length of the contract will keep him from voting yes. He said he would vote for a 48 month contract though.
